Road Trip!
My friend and I are on our way to Phoenix, Arizona for the Phoenix Comicon. I’m looking forward to this show. It’s a fairly big show and usually a lot of fun. Come see Pepe Melan and me at table 359.
Ideas on paper…for once
I’ve been working on an outline for a story/possible novel I’m working on. I’ve actually put pen to paper on this project. That is many steps closer than in the past.
I’m working on character ideas now. I like them to be original, not the cookie-cutter characters from other fantasy/science fiction novels I’ve read. I’ve read too many stories of the lonely farm boy/blacksmith nephew/scrawny schoolboy becoming the hero. I don’t want to do that. Is that part of the formula? Then I don’t want to use it. So this is just one hurdle I’m looking at, I’m sure there will be others.
I also want a unique story. I’m sure it’ll be some sort of quest. But I don’t want to take the “One Ring” to Mount Doom, or destroy a space station (That’s no moon!). So I guess I’m going to be playing with all sorts of ideas. I think I have ideas on what will work, I just have to put it all down and work it on to the page.
Not procrastinating
Just very uninterested in everything today. I need motivation but have none. I really hate when I feel like this. It’s wasted time, but it’s an emotional thing to the best I can figure. I’m 99% sure it’s loneliness and isolation that is doing it to me. Not much I can do about that I guess.

Big Wow ComicFest, San Jose
I had a great time seeing friends at Big Wow ComicFest last weekend. San Jose is a beautiful town. I could actually see myself living there. There were not a lot of costumed folks at this show and it was more comic driven than other shows I’ve been at in the past, which is good for comic creators.
I did meet Richard Kiel, which was fun since I’m a huge fan of the James Bond films. Mr. Kiel, whom you may remember as Jaws, the villain turned good guy with the metal teeth, was great. Just really intimidating at first, he’s a giant of a man. What a treat to meet him.
Oh, I did get a photo of female Loki.

Also, check out the sites of my friends Emonic and Allan Angel. There’s some really good stuff. I was disappointed we didn’t have time to make it to Emo’s gallery show in San Jose.
Next up, Phoenix!
Sick Days
I will recap the San Jose Big Wow ComicFest in a day or two. Fighting off a bug. Scratchy throat and just feeling run down. Over and out.
